On Thursday, November 30, 2017, writing pedagogy and composition expert Joseph Harris leads the first Art of Teaching Writing Faculty Workshop. The half-day workshop is a condensed and tailored version for UC Berkeley faculty of Art of Writing’s Summer Institute. Up to ten faculty members will participate in the workshop, which will include group exercises and discussion.

Joseph Harris leads the annual Art of Teaching Writing Summer Institute for R&C GSIs at UC Berkeley. He is professor of English and directs the Composition Program at the University of Delaware. Harris has written or edited four books on teaching writing, including Rewriting: How to Do Things with Texts and A Teaching Subject: Composition Since 1966. He has also edited CCC, the leading journal in writing studies, and the Conference on College Composition & Communication’s Studies in Writing and Rhetoric book series. Before coming to Delaware, he was the founding director of the writing program at Duke University and also directed the writing programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
